My new job

It was a little unexpected when I got offered this job since I thought I did so horribly at the interview. Of course I accepted right away. The thought of having to go through another competency based interview makes me sweat.

So I kinda just accepted the first wage offer they gave me. It’s a huge thing in London what kind of money you make and everyone is so concerned about not only their wages but others as well. I don’t think it matters as me and Nick are DINKs (Double Income No Kids) and combined…well, Id say were doing allright. Plus I get us both free travel with this new job which saves us a total of £2000/yr and that is just getting into London from Norwood. That doesn’t include weekends and tube travel.

When I told Nick he asked me if I could ask for more. So, Ive been sweating it out for a few days and came upon this website about wage negotiation. Basically they say to never accept the first wage offer because they always offer you the lowest out of their range and wait to see what you say, if your desperate, you’ll take it.

Maybe I am just desperate, maybe Im not that concerned about money. Im pretty easy and take what I can get. Its only since Ive been in London and realizing how much money matters to everyone. I can feel myself getting sucked in.

Tonight, me and Rosina (Nicks 13 yr old sis) are going to see Harry Potter. I booked the tickets last week coz I wanted to see them and who better to take than Rose since no one else will go with me. She also got grounded last week but apparently its just from seeing her friends and shes allowed to go out with me. Rose is pretty cool and can sometimes be more mature and independent that Beth who is 19. Sad, I know.

We are also going to use the free travel tickets Danielle was nice enough to send me so me and Nick might go to Cotswold. For some reason he wants to only go for 1 day. Ill work my magic and convince him to spend the night…this is if the tickets work coz Danielle and Jana’s names are on them. Ill just play dumb and do the talking with my Canadian accent. Nick will have to keep his mouth shut. He’ll give us away.

Ive also come down suddenly with a horrible cold and called in sick yesterday. I never do so I thought it would be ok to take a little break. I think Ill have a Friday night in, maybe Des will find something to do so I wont have to share the TV with him.
