Easter weekend

Long weekend. End of Lent. The day everyone is meant to go to church.

We didn’t. Maybe because we made the mistake, on Saturday, of going into North London (Camden) with Tom, Beth, Martin & Paula and not getting home till 4:30 in the morning!
Im getting too old for this kind of stuff.

We started our day visiting Auntie Joan, who is 84 and in a nursing home. She thinks shes 104 and mentioned it a couple of times. She said she remembered who I was but couldn’t remember my name. I didn’t feel so bad as she didn’t remember Nicks either. Christine had warned me before we went in that Auntie Joan looked very thin and frail. I was thinking when I saw her that she actually looked quite well compared to my Grandma in her last days. Auntie Joan had also had a stroke 2 years ago and now cant move her legs. Its so sad seeing her in that state as well as all the others in the nursing home. Like theyre sitting around just waiting to die. The woman next to her was 94.
After the visit we went out for lunch with Des & Christine (who are, sadly, still together and but still not living together). They didn’t fight which was good but Kim was telling me the other day Christine called her up and was saying how lonely she is now. I said shes experiencing Empty Nest Syndrome. Shes had kids around since she was 18 and now at 54, theyre all growing up and leaving her. She doesn’t know what to do with all this time to herself.

We ended up going to Martins for a few drinks and heading into Camden where we stayed in this pub before heading to the club downstairs. We lost track of time and M&P needed some food and said they were coming back. They didn’t, as I guessed, and my mood turned sour and I wanted to go home. Everyone in the club was like 20 and I didn’t know hardly any of the music. I got asked 3x how old I was by 3 guys that tried to pick me up. Maybe they thought they were cool hitting on an 'older woman'. I also got asked if I was from Saskatchewan by some english guy in Subway. We didn’t leave till 2am. Took a bus to Trafalgar Square to get the night bus (jumped on the wrong one) ended up in the middle of nowhere, called a cab but it was 1 1/2 hr wait, took another night bus…by this time, I had enough but had to endure the journey. It was also freezing! Finally, got to East Croydon and caught a cab. By the time we got home 4:30am, Tom & Beth were arguing and decided to break up…again.

I was so cold, I couldn’t feel my toes. Nick said maybe I should go to the doctor coz theres something wrong with me. That night was so not worth it. We spent loads of money and M&P didnt even stick around for what shouldve been, the good part.

By the way, Tom & Beth made up and are still fighting happily ever after….apple doesn’t fall far from the tree I guess.

Back to work and expecting cousin Marty tomorrow night for a few days. I don’t think I will take him on any wild ones this time. Maybe we could even stay in and watch tv and visit or something. Although this Friday, we are meant to go for leaving drinks for Paul (friend from Nicks work). I did have a dream about Marty last night that he kept on touching/poking his eyes on purpose and hurting himself. That was weird.

This is hilarious. http://pigeonblog.wordpress.com/2008/03/20/saving-mary/
